Featured on The Compassion Project: Songs for Animal, Human, and Earth Justice

Blending heartfelt lyrics with a reflective alt-pop sound, UK-based duo hopdot bring a powerful sense of emotional honesty to their music. Comprised of vocalist Amy Hopper and composer David Hopper, the pair make their mark on The Compassion Project with “Before We All Go Under,” a haunting call for unity in a world strained by war and injustice. In this interview, hopdot opens up about their journey, creative process, and hopes for a more compassionate future.
Was there something or someone who was the "catalyst" for you to go into music?
I would say my father who died when I was 4 years old. I don't have many memories of him, but the ones I do remember are of listening to him playing the electronic organ. He had a lot of sheet music, which I used to play.
What has been the highlight of your music path?
Getting one of our songs played on a local BBC Introducing radio station last year.
How do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like?
I don't try to compose music—something will just trigger it.
Do you have a new release?
No new releases in the pipeline at the moment. But our song “Before We All Go Under” will be featured on The Compassion Project: Songs for Animal, Human, and Earth Justice
If you could share the stage or a song session with an artist, who would it be?
Sam Fender.
For fans who have never heard your music, how would you describe your sound?Someone who we had a review from described it as alt-pop.
What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, producing...something else?
Songwriting.
When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
Trying to play golf.
What is coming up in the future for you?
Nothing much due to work commitments, but we will be having a music campaign soon.

About hopdot
hopdot is an independent musical duo from the North East of the United Kingdom, consisting of vocalist Amy Hopper and composer/keyboardist David Hopper. Originally working with lyricist Philip Swallow in hopes of securing a traditional publishing deal, the duo eventually chose to take full creative control and began releasing music independently.
Their featured song “Before We All Go Under” on The Compassion Project is a moving call for peace and unity in a world too often divided by conflict and inequality. Written by Philip Swallow, composed by David Hopper, and voiced with emotional clarity by Amy Hopper, the song captures the heart of what the album stands for — a plea for compassion, justice, and a better tomorrow.
