Featured on The Compassion Project: Songs for Animals, Humans, and Earth Justice

Hailing from the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia, Swift Timmy is the creative recording project of songwriter Tim Channon. Known for its richly melodic and genre-defying sound, Swift Timmy blends heartfelt storytelling with atmospheric instrumentation. With contributions from family and friends, including standout vocals by Adelaide Channon, the project has earned international recognition in multiple songwriting competitions. On The Compassion Project, Swift Timmy contributes two stirring tracks — “Trees” and “If You Wait Too Long” — which reflect deeply on ecological loss, human responsibility, and the urgency of acting before it’s too late.

Was there something or someone who was the "catalyst" for you to go into music?
My family is very musical, with a number of professional and accomplished amateur musicians spread across the generations. Adelaide, who does much of the singing in the project, is a professional trumpeter and is currently studying for her Masters in Trumpet at the Royal College of Music in London.
Let's get this out of the way. What is the craziest thing that has ever happened in your music career?
Hard to say—there's been so many. Possibly singing solos in the Charpentier mass to a town hall full of people without properly knowing the part, with the conductor trying to prompt me with the entries, or singing Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial By Jury to the judges of the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of NSW as part of the Supreme Court's bicentenary celebrations, or maybe playing lead guitar to thousands of people at a big outdoor concert in Manly, a seaside suburb of Sydney, and having the bass player walk off the stage and leave the band.
What has been the highlight of your music path?
Winning the Indie section of the UK Songwriting Contest in 2018.
How do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like? I have music going through my head all the time. Sometimes, if something seems particularly good, I'll sit down with a guitar and work out the chords. Sometimes, the song comes fully formed, other times I have to work at it.
Do you have a new release?
I'm releasing a song soon called "Fallen In Love With Your Smile (The Historian)" which is about my wife and I getting together many years ago. It's got a spacey Pink Floyd feel about it which I really like.
If you could share the stage or a song session with an artist, who would it be?Definitely Paul McCartney.
For fans who have never heard your music, how would you describe your sound? It's really hard to pin down, as the songs range from rockabilly to semi-classical. The one thing that they have in common is a strong melody.
What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, producing...something else?
I love music and doing musical things. I love singing and playing all sorts of music. I'm no good at production for several reasons, one being that I'm a bit deaf and another that I tend to get over-elaborate and keep adding bits until I end up with an incomprehensible wall of sound. I need a producer to keep me in check and help me to get the best arrangement of my songs.
When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
I'm a busy lawyer, which keeps me off the street. I also enjoy making pots, playing with our dogs, and going on long walks.
What is coming up in the future for you?
Who knows? Always more music. I'd love to get some music into a movie one of these days.
Any additional information you would like fans to know? I've got a whole lot of new songs coming up over the next twelve months or so, so keep an eye out.
