Austin, TX – Canadian singer-songwriter Stephanie Westdal has been selected to appear on The Compassion Project: Songs for Animal, Human, and Earth Justice, a powerful compilation album set for release on September 5 by Artists & Activists Records. Her featured track, “Common Chain,” is a heartfelt anthem about human solidarity and the responsibility of privilege to help uplift those in crisis.

Written and performed by Westdal and produced by longtime collaborator Chris Burke-Gaffney, “Common Chain” was inspired by her work as an ambassador for Activation Trust, a Kenya-based nonprofit that empowered orphans through education. The song acknowledges the inequities in the world while calling on people in positions of privilege to help rebuild communities affected by climate disasters, political oppression, and poverty. It is a song about empathy in action — about starting over, and helping others to start anew.
